Danish Team

Troels Overdal Poulsen

The World Barista Champion 2005. Troels has been working at the famous Café Europa for the past 6 years, currently as a floor manager. He is also a teacher at the Copenhagen Coffee Academy and KONTRA. Last year Troels was the coach for the Danish National Team and furthermore he is a WBC Certified Judge.


Casper Engel

Casper has been working with espresso coffee for almost four years now. Participated in the Danish National Championship 2005 and won 3rd place. He is currently working as sales manager for Estate Coffee and part time as a Barista at the Estate coffee shop. When he’s not working he is often found cupping or experimenting with roasting.


Lene Hyldahl

Lene is a waiter by education and worked at one of Denmarks leading cafés in Århus to learn more about coffee. She won 2nd place in the Danish National Championship 2004 along with the Signature Drink award. Competed on the Danish National team in the Nordic Cup on Iceland in 2004. Went straight back home and opened up her own café in the North of Denmark, where she set a new standard for great coffee.


Rasmus Korsaa

From the second biggest city in Denmark, Århus, comes the enthusiastic Rasmus Korsaa, who won 2nd place in the Jutland Championship this year and 6th in the Danish finals. Rasmus is the manager of Café Ziggy and also does courses, seminars and events about coffee around Jutland. Truly one of the up-and-coming barista stars and keen to learn from the experience at the NBC.

Klaus Thomsen (team coach)

Macchinesto and barista trainer at Estate Coffee in Copenhagen. Winner of the Danish National Championship 2004 and went on to the WBC in Trieste, where he placed third in the world. He was also on the Danish National team on Iceland in 2004 and looks forward with pride to coach the team for another Nordic Barista Cup.
