There were 11 other people coming along on the one-week trip sponsored and arranged by Mercanta. The group of 15 had people from Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Great Britain, USA and Australia.
The program was as follows:
Saturday 14th January
Group dinner at hotel
Sunday 15th January
Trip to Lake Toba area to visit coffee plantations and the lake.
Monday 16th January
Visit growing region around Lake Toba and Lintong.
Tuesday 17th January
Tour Wahana Estate – coffee picking if ripe cherries are present (Weather-dependent!).
Wednesday 18th January
Sightseeing day – visit Samosir Island on Lake Toba.
Thursday 19th January
Visit site of NBC charity project (Wahana Coffee School) and small farmers near Wahana Estate.
Friday 20th January
Visit Sarimakmur mill and facilities in Medan. Evening barista event in Sarimakmur’s Opal Café.
Saturday 21st January
Goodbye Medan.
