Thursday Night in Copenhagen.

As talks were concluded yesterday afternoon, attendees were advised that we were headed ‘somewhere special, with tight security’ for dinner, and to board the buses. After a short ride, we arrived at the Folketing the Danish National Parliament, inside Christiansborg Palace.

After a climb up many flights of stairs, we arrived in the public gallery overlooking the magnificent Parliament, with 30 metre ceilings, ornate fixtures, and a ceiling emblazoned with various coats of arms. Our guide talked us through a brief history of the Parliament building, and governmental process in Denmark.

Unable to resist a great photo opportunity, we paused on the stairs before heading to Snapstinget – the Danish Parliament’s restaurant, where members of parliament and employees meet for lunch each day. Visitors are not normally permitted to dine in the restaurant, so we were delighted to be an exception, and enjoy a dinner of smørrebrød and akvavit.
