Rush Hour at NBC

At this very moment the Rush Hour competition is in full swing. Rush Hour mimics the insanity of a busy day at an international café. Those of you who’ve worked at busy cafees during rush hour will know what i’m talking about, those of you who haven’t will probably recognize the look of a focused, sweating and cursing barista in the zone – not to be disturbed.

During ‘the rush hour’ (which in actuality last only half an hour) the barista teams are to make 30 random coffee orders, one order of 2 espressos, one order of 1 latte + 1 cappuccino and so on and so on. When all is said and done the teams will have made roughly 100 cups of coffee. To make the process a little more realistic the competition comes fixed with 3 complications. One order will be sent back, another will be complicated by a customer who “accidentally” breaks a glass. Time, quality and teamwork are all factors in determining the outcome. Sweden finished first timewise, but the overall winner is still to be found. Stay tuned.
