The team from Finland was the underdogs at the competition in 2004. Nobody knew about the team’s barista yet everybody knew that exiting things have started to happen within the coffee culture in Finland – so everybody expected fierce competition from this team.

The performance was divided into two themes – a child’s birthday party and two queens’ visit at a coffee bar (se competition elements).
For the entire performance the team used an espresso blend consisting of:

  • 50% Sumatra Cayo
  • 10% Selebas
  • 40% Mexico single origin number 6

For the queens’ theme the team from Finland made:

‘Asia espresso’

  • Coconut milk
  • Marinated fruits on the side (salt, sugar, chilli)

‘Icelandic memory’

  • Cream biscuits (skyr, cream cheese, dark chocolate, syrup)

  • Espresso together with a frappe base

  • Rum flavoured chocolate for decoration

  • Santa Cruz with coconut puff
  • Strawberries
  • Mint chocolate and mint leaves

  • Straight up filter coffee consisting of a blend of:
